CONQUERING FRIZZ

CONQUERING FRIZZ
“Hey Booff Heads!” – My Top 5 Reasons Why Hair Frizzes!
I wish I was blessed with frizzles, picture-perfect hair – then again I don’t really know who wouldn’t. But I mean the kind of hair that you can just wash and walk out the door without worrying that’s it’s going to dry and end up looking like a giant haystack from the coyote road-runner cartoons. It made me wonder what makes my hair frizzy in the first place.  I decided to investigate so here are my top 10 reasons why your hair can frizz-up.

  OVER HEAT STYLING
There are probably no surprises to this one: the double edged sword. Brow-dying causes the hair to become frizzier! The worst culprits would have to be curling irons!

2.  TOO MUCH BRUSHING AFTER IT’S DRY
Brushing your hair also causes it to fluff out. So it’s best to use a wide tooth comb or finger comb your hair.

3.      TOWLE DRY HAIR AFTER A SHOWER
It’s always best to towel-dry your hair first, then applying heat styling.

4.      ANTI-FRIZZ OILS
This is another double edged sword, but if you’re using anti-frizz serums, the ones which are made out of oil, then this in turn strips the hair even more so of its natural oil, causing it to become more frizzy when you wash your hair next.
In my experience the worst culprits of these products are the cheaper oil-type serums from the supermarket : John Frida, Paul Mitchell theses are really sticky and messy and end up making you look worse!
If you’re trying to avoid the blow-dryer altogether, then try towel drying the hair, using your fingers to comb it, then applying water or a small amount of conditioner or anti-frizz serums while your hair is damp. Then just let it dry.

5.      USING AT-HOME HAIR COLOURING
A hairdresser once told me that at-home hair dyes cause the hair to become really dry and damaged. Then again I would argue that dying all-together would do this– and even though this is point number 5 it doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop doing dying my hair at home.

So what’s the alternative?? Well I’m sure as hell not going to stop blow-drying so here are my favourite anti-frizz products. I think these are the best ones out there:

My favourite absolute best super amazing product for taming frizz for me is the Fredderick Fekkai Glossing Cream! This stuff is soooooooooo amazing if anyone out there knows a product that is similar let me know! I use this product as the gold standard of anti-frizz creams.
-          Tigi After Party – unfortunately this product is no longer being made!

-          Kerestase Calm is also one of my absolute favourites. Oh and I just want to say that probably the worst Frizz serums that I’ve used are the: Paul Mitchell and the worst worst worst ones are the John Frida ones.
